Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention
and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. The technical
term for these problems is "malocclusion", which means "bad bite".
The practice of orthodontics requires professional skill in the
design, application and control of corrective appliances (braces) to
bring teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment and achieve facial
balance. After college, an orthodontist must complete four years of
dental school and then complete an additional two to three years of
advanced specialist training in orthodontics.

We are very proud of the fact that dentists recommend us, that
parents choose us and that kids love us!
Dr. Taylor strongly agrees with the American Association of Orthodontists in recommending that every
child should have an orthodontic exam no later than age 7, when permanent teeth are beginning to erupt,
or earlier if a problem is suspected. You do not need a referral to visit our practice, just call for an appointment.
Early diagnosis is very important in planning your child's
treatment. Dr. Taylor can guide erupting teeth into more favorable
positions, preserve space for the permanent teeth and correct jaw
growth and development problems, thus, often avoiding the need for
extraction of permanent teeth, or more serious jaw surgery
procedures. Early treatment may also shorten treatment time, make
treatment easier and in some cases less expensive.

Problems to Watch for in Seven Year Olds
Poorly arranged teeth can wear down prematurely and can trap food particles that cause tooth
decay and gum disease. They can also lead to poor chewing which can further damage healthy teeth.
Straight teeth will improve your smile, which is one of the most important features of your face.
You are never too old to improve the health and attractiveness of your smile. More and more
adults are seeking treatment - in fact, more than 30% of Dr. Taylor's patients are adults.
Adults can now choose to wear small, clear braces that are barely noticeable, or even removable,
"invisible braces" (Invisalign™).

Appearance has been related to popularity, social behaviors, personality style and self esteem.
Treatment may reduce appearance-consciousness and the emotional scarring that can occur during
critical development years.
Additional benefits may include better function, improved cleaning ability, more favorable wear patterns
on the teeth and greater longevity of the natural teeth.
Orthodontic treatment may actually eliminate the need for other costly medical and dental treatment.
Furthermore, the physical and psychological benefits usually last a lifetime, making orthodontics an excellent
investment in your health and quality of life! We offer several budget options so that finances don't stand
between our patients and their desired treatment. We work with most insurance companies, and accept
MasterCard and Visa.
